RE: Downtown Post Office

Stamp Out Bureaucracy

Editor, Daily News:

I want to thank John and Delores Sorey and the many other volunteers who collected signatures on petitions asking the U.S. Postmaster General to save our downtown Naples post office.

This small post office provides much needed convenience to the residents of Old Naples and serves as the main post office for all of the businesses and professionals in the heart of the city.

The Main Post Office on Goodlette-Frank Road was not designed to accommodate all of the people and traffic in the city. It also lacks the necessary staffing to handle the increased volume. In fact, lines are already stacking up at the Main Post Office and it is not even peak season yet.

Hopefully, the voices of the more than 2,900 petition signers will be heard in Washington, D.C. and the postmaster general will make the right decision to keep our downtown post office open.
