Sam Saad addressed members of the Coquina Sands Association during the organization’s annual meeting at the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club. The event provided an opportunity for Saad and the four other Naples City Council candidates to address a wide variety of issues and answer questions from residents of the Coquina Sands neighborhood. Saad emphasized the importance of this election to the future of our town and encouraged all voters to turnout at the polls on February 2nd.

Sam Saad Participates in Naples Town Hall Group Forum
Sam Saad addressed a wide range of issues facing our town at the Naples Town Hall Group Forum at City Hall. The forum provided residents and other community members an opportunity to hear the five council candidates respond to a series of questions. Topics included the city’s budget, local economy, the environment and annexation. Saad stated that he was pleased to have another opportunity to address voters just one week before Election Day and emphasized how important this election will be to the future of Naples.

Sam Saad Receives Endorsement from The Greater Naples Better Government Committee
Sam Saad was recognized by The Greater Naples Better Government Committee (GNBGC) at a special reception held at the Inn on Fifth. The public endorsement came two weeks after the committee announced its choice. The GNBGC interviewed the candidates and held a special meeting for the committee’s board of directors candidate selection committee. The GNBGC is the longest continuing Political Action Committee in the area, having formed in 1991. Its role is to educate the public on local issues and candidates.

The Board of Directors of the Naples Velo Bicycle Club has voted unanimously to endorse Sam Saad for Naples City Council. In its letter of endorsement, the Board wrote, “We are strongly urging our members to get involved in your campaigns and for those who live in the city to vote for you on February 2. We appreciate your strong support for the cycling community. Even though there has been some recent tension in the City we are firmly dedicated to resolving these issues and will do all we can to educate our members and enforce safe, responsible, respectable cycling behavior.

Sam Saad Participates in Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce Candidates Forum
Sam Saad addressed a wide range of issues facing our town at the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce candidates forum at Sugden Theater. The forum, co-sponsored by the Naples Daily News, gave community members a chance to meet the five people running for office. Topics included the city’s budget, local economy, the environment and efforts to attract the Chicago Cubs to Collier County. Saad, a Cubs fan, supports bringing the team’s spring training operations to our community but not at taxpayer expense. “I am concerned about the use of the tourist tax to help fund it. Those dollars help pay for our beach renourishment and other projects, and those things are important to us.

Marine Industries Association of Collier County Endorses Sam Saad for Naples City Council
The Marine Industries Association of Collier County, Inc. (MIACC) has endorsed Sam Saad for Naples City Council. The endorsement was made after the group interviewed the candidates during its recent annual meeting and held a special meeting for the organization’s board of directors. The MIACC is a nonprofit organization that represents the marine business owners and their interests to the government and to the public. It strives to work with local, state and national governments to protect equally all marine business concerns.

Sam Saad Supports Naples Daily News Half Marathon; Joins Volunteers at Water Stop

Sam Saad and 15 campaign volunteers manned the water stop at Mile 7 of the Naples Daily News Half Marathon. Thousands of cups of water and Gatorade were passed out to runners of the 22nd annual event. “This race has become one of the largest in the state of Florida, drawing more than 1,900 runners from all over the world,” Saad said. “I am proud to support this tremendous community event and to give back to our town.”

Grassroots Campaign Moves Forward; Number of Doors Knocked Now Over 1,000

Sam Saad Addresses the Marine Industries Association
Sam Saad joined his fellow candidates for Naples City Council in addressing the Marine Industries Association of Collier County. As an avid boater himself, Saad pointed out the importance of preserving Naples Bay and other local waterways. Saad also discussed the economic recession and its impact on the marine industry locally as well as the City Dock.  He stated that Naples faces significant budget shortfalls over the next couple of years and that “efficiencies must be found in our system and synergies with the county.

Sam Saad Addresses Royal Harbor Annual Meeting
Tonight the candidates for Naples City Council were given a few minutes to address the Royal Harbor Annual Meeting. Sam Saad used his time to stress the importance of Naples Bay to the health and vitality of Naples.  Saad is an avid boater who enjoys taking his children out swimming and boating on the bay and along keywadin island.   

Saad also stressed that we must get out budget under control.   He noted that Naples faces a $500,000 revenue short fall next year and $3,000,000 the year after that.  “ We must find efficiencies in our system and we must find synergies with the county” Saad said.  He also stressed that public safety is job one and would not support any cuts to police and fire services, especially at a time when Royal Harbor has seen a wave of crime in recent months.

On January 4, 2010, Sam Saad spoke before the Park Shore Association Board of Directors at Northern Trust Bank. Saad outlined his platform for creating a shared vision for “Our Naples” and addressed a number of issues of specific importance to residents in the Park Shore neighborhood, including the replacement of trees, traffic, the city’s current budget problems, and compliance with building and design codes.

Sam Saad Participates in 8th Annual Christmas Parade on Fifth Avenue

Sam Saad helped celebrate the holidays by participating in the 8th annual Christmas Parade on Fifth Avenue South. The Naples City Council candidate was one of 114 parade entries marching through the downtown business district. The official theme of this year’s Christmas Parade was the “Magic of Christmas Past,” reflecting the history of how Naples was founded around the waterfront, the railroad and the Tamiami Trail. As such, Saad and several campaign supporters rode in the parade in a vintage classic car from the 1960s.

Naples City Council Candidate Sam Saad helped kick off the holiday season by participating in the 33rd Annual Festival of Lights. The weeklong event began on Monday, November 23, 2009, with the lighting of a 25-foot Christmas tree with more than 10,000 lights on it. The annual celebration features several vendors, music groups, a live nativity scene and artificial snow. It is sponsored by the Third Street South Association
